This past weekend was incredibly sucessful for the three teams of JMM’s Public Forum squad. 

On Friday Night, the team of Lingran Kong & Nancy Gu closed out the final round with the team of Abilash Seshadri and Rachel T. Wang.  The team of Yi Yi and Heeje Jeon finished as semi-finalists.

 On Saturday, Yi and Jeon closed out the final round with Kong &  Gu.  Seshadri & Wang finished as semi-finalists.

Overall, JMM’s three teams completed 34 rounds of debate and lost only one round to a team from another school.   Gu and Jeon also earned bids to the Wisconsin State Debate Tournament brining JMM’s total to 4 PF teams and 2 LDers. 

Congratualtions to Lingran Kong and Valerie Shen for fighting through a field of 28 teams to win the South Milwaukee Big Red Tournament.  To get to the final round, Kong & Shen were required to face Yi Yi and Suvai Gunasekaran in the Semi-final round.  Yi and Suvai’s performance made them the thrid JMM PF team to qualify for State.

The production of Our Town is about ready to hit the stage. Tickets can be purchased from Mr. Hardin in advance or at the door.  Tickets are $5.oo.  Please arrive on time, because we do not seat anyone after the show has begun.  For additional details contact the Memorial Theater Company at (608) 347-9761.  The shows are on the following dates:

Congratulations to the Public Forum team of Lingran Kong and Valerie Shen who finished as tournament runners-up, dropping to Brookfield East SS on a 3-2 decision in the finals after going undefeated in the prelimiary rounds.

Congratualtions to JMM debaters competing at Rufus King this past weekend.  On Friday night, the Public Forum team of Abilash Seshadri and Rachel T. Wang and LDer Rebekah Rodriquez earned semi-finalist honors.  On Saturday, the PF team of Lingran Kong and Valerie Shen and LDer Brendan Caldwell earned semi-finalist honors, and LDer Rebekah Rodriquez placed 2nd on a 2-1 decision in the final.

This means JMM has now qualified 2 public forum teams and 2 LDers to the state tournament to be held in South Milwaukee in December. 

Thornton Wilder’s play, Our Town was selected as the production for the Fall Show earlier this year.  Right now, the cast is busy rehearsing and the crew is busy preparing.  We look forward to seeing the production after the summer.

After two long days of debate, sophomores Lingran Kong and Valerie Shen finished the preliminary rounds of Public Forum debate as the third seed overall.  They were defeated in the semi-finals by a team from Glenbrooks South (IL).  Their performance earned the debaters a spot for a second consecutive year at the Wisconsin State Debate Tournament.  Congratulations!
